The quotation for special containers requires an accurate understanding of the carrying capacity of the shipping market, as well as the pricing methods and market prices of shipping companies. Understand the customer's goods parameters (preferably with photos), shipping time and delivery date. Fully estimate the operational difficulty and fully calculate the costs that will be incurred. The characteristics of operating special containers: Special containers themselves are owned by carriers in small quantities, and the market demand is also relatively small. The operation is difficult and the procedures are complex. The entire transportation process requires the confirmation of all multiple links before it can be undertaken. It is mainly necessary to confirm the container, price and space in advance. The prices vary greatly and are not comparable. Many shipping companies do not offer special container services. Relatively speaking, the value of goods carried by special containers is generally higher.
Precautions for operating special boxes
The main points to note for refrigerated containers are: the setting requirements of the container, whether pre-cooling is needed, whether a load test (CWI) is required, the opening degree of the ventilation port, the temperature, the time of container pick-up, the free usage period of the container body, and the free storage period at the wharf. Opening the top box: Confirm in advance the weight, size, loading and unloading requirements of the goods, as well as the consignor's requirements for the box body. Frame box: Confirm in advance the weight, size, loading and unloading requirements of the goods, the consignor's requirements for the box body, the feasibility of land transportation process, and accurately calculate the cost.
Open-top Container
The feature of this type of container is that the top can be conveniently removed and reinstalled. There are two types of box tops: hard tops and soft tops. The hard roof is made of thin steel plates and the loading and unloading operations are carried out by lifting machinery. Soft ceilings are generally made of canvas, plastic sheeting or coated fabric. When opening the ceiling, just roll it up to one end. This type of container is suitable for loading large and heavy goods, such as steel, wood, machinery, especially fragile heavy goods like glass plates. Using a crane to lift the goods from the top into the box is less likely to damage the goods and is also convenient for fixing them inside the box.
Frame Container (Flat Rack Container
This type of container is characterized by having no top or side walls, and even the end walls are removed, leaving only the bottom plate and four corner columns. This type of container can be loaded and unloaded from the front and back, left and right, and above. It is suitable for loading long and heavy items such as heavy machinery, steel, wood, and steel ingots. Rack-type containers are not waterproof. Goods that are afraid of getting wet cannot be transported. If they must be transported, they must be covered with canvas and sealed well.
Plat-form Container
This type of container is more simplified than the rack container and only retains the floor. It is mainly used for loading and unloading long and heavy cargo. Such as heavy machinery and equipment, steel, etc. The length and width of the platform are the same as the bottom dimensions of international standard containers, and the same fasteners and lifting devices as other containers can be used. The adoption of this type of container has broken the previous notion that containers must have a certain volume.
Tank Container
As the name suggests, this type of container is specially designed for transporting liquid goods such as alcohol, gasoline and chemicals. It consists of two parts: the tank and the frame. The tank is used for loading liquids, while the frame is used to support and fix the tank. The outer wall of the tank is made of insulation materials to insulate the tank, and the inner wall is generally ground and polished to prevent liquid from remaining on the wall surface. To reduce the viscosity of the liquid, a heater is also installed at the lower part of the tank. The internal temperature of the tank can be observed through the thermometer installed at its upper part. For the convenience of loading and unloading, a loading opening is provided on the top of the tank and a discharge valve is provided at the bottom of the tank. When loading, the liquid enters through the loading opening at the top of the tank. When unloading, it flows out through the discharge hole. It can also be sucked out from the loading opening at the top with a straw.
Refrigerated Container (Reefer Container
Refrigerated containers, also known as refrigerated cabinets, are insulated containers mainly used for transporting frozen food and can maintain a set low temperature. It is specially designed for transporting fish, shrimp, meat, fresh fruits, vegetables and other foods. At present, the refrigerated containers used internationally are basically divided into two types: one type is the mechanical refrigerated container with a refrigeration unit inside the container. Another type of container has no refrigeration unit but only insulation equipment. The end walls of the container are equipped with air intake and exhaust holes. After the container is placed in the hold, it is supplied with cold air by the ship's refrigeration system. This type is called a clutch refrigerated container (also known as an external refrigerated container).
Car container
This kind of container is specially designed for transporting small cars. Its structural feature is that it has no side walls, only a frame and a box bottom. To prevent the car from sliding inside the box, the bottom of the box is specially equipped with binding devices and anti-slip steel plates. Most car containers are designed in two layers and can carry multiple small cars.
